Greetings Crusaders!
Last night marked the begining of an epic journey for our guild as our 5v5 arena team "Rollin Wit Ma Gnomies" made its debut! Sure we finished 1-9 for the night, but the experience was fun and we're just there for the arena points right? Special thank you to those who participated (Kamielle, Hudman, Leftyleap, Kurto, Vaniel and Baddreams). If you are intrested in our guild's arena team or PvP in general, please message me in game.
Additionally, today patch 4.01 goes live. I won't bother spamming all of the changes here, but please spend some time reading up on all of the changes http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/10/12/patch-4-0-1-information-roundup/#continued
Enjoy the patch and "re-learning" your toons!

There is no “I” in “Team”, but there is in “I’m bored”
Fellow Crusaders,
As we have experienced a couple times within Wrath, our guild is slowly letting down into a relaxed, lull state of mind within our game. Most of us anxiously await the Catacylsm expansion to provide the “spark” back into WoW. Others, dream of COTL collectively downing the Lich King (not me, he’s my father). We’ve hit what could be our last and possibly longest lull moment in the game as the forecast roll out dates for Cataclysm seem to be many months away. What does this mean for the guild?
First and foremost, this will greatly effect our raiding. We’ve hit a point with our progression in ICC and Ruby Sanctum where we need to choose a path. If COTL wishes to progress further into ICC, we must build our experience around a core set of raiders who are willing to put in the time, blood, sweat, tears and gold to learn the fights we have struggled on. While we have quite a few people on board to face this endeavor head on, the bookends (tanks & heals) to our raiding have been very thin as of late. Unfortunately, this is just the reality of our real lives and the alluring whispers of summer to “get off of that computer!”. Our raid leaders have been working feverishly to put together the best raiding experience possible for our guild with the limited number of geared/experienced tanks and heals we have available. Couple this with scheduling conflicts and what we have is the perfect storm to be stonewalled in ICC.
For our newer guildies, the summer is also a very slow time in COTL (and presumably most other guilds in this game). We are a family focused guild, so many of our members are away during the summer on vacations. Sadly, your guild leader is a big loser with no friends who listens to 80s hair rock all day while WoWing.
As a member of COTL, I can assure you that we will weather this storm the best way we now how and have done in the past..... together. During the next 1-2 months, you may witness a decrease in raids or other activities. Fear not, as this is just a natural part of the WoW life-cycle. In the meantime, here are some ideas I have found online of ways you may want to think about spending your time as we gear up for Cataclysm.
1) Practice the Old Battlegrounds
With the arrival of rated battlegrounds in WoW Cataclysm, those standard Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch, and Eye of the Storm battlegrounds you use to just /afk in will gain much more importance. It will be a great source of ‘arena points’ to become top quality gear. However, you should be warned that many guilds will join these battlegrounds together and having strats/coordination/pots and whatever else technique to get an edge over the competition. It is a good time to go back with your PVP team to these battlegrounds and master each person’s role in the battleground.
2) Max out your professions
This is a no brainer, but it becomes especially important in this Cataclysm expansion when professions are being made more useful than before. Reforging will be a incredibly popular and money making ability that can get you rich with the right preparation. Fishing in WoW Cataclysm is also said to become exciting again so make sure you have it at max level before the expansion hits.
3) Get Heirloom items for your new Goblin and Worgen alts
Heirloom items will only last until level 80, but that doesn’t mean your new Worgen and Goblin alts shouldn’t be decked out in them. It will be the fastest and easiest way for you to level as a Goblin or Worgen in WoW Cataclysm.
4) Soak in the ‘old world’ as much as possible
We all know that the old Azeroth we have come to love will no longer be around once the catastrophic cataclysm destroys it to bits forever and changes the landscape we have all spent days getting to know. So if need be, make one more alt, get a new friend to join you, and slowly but surely level your way through the original World of Warcraft for one last time. Make sure to take lots of screenshots along the way.
5) Get to know your guildies
Is the most contact you have with our guild saying hi after a “robotic” hello? Chat it up, get to know us. We are one big, semi-dysfunctional family.
6 ) Take a Break
Sometimes the biggest advantage you can give yourself prior to an expansion is taking a break from the game. This sounds counter-intuitive but alot of players suffer from burnout after they play the same game over and over for years. Perhaps a little break and spending time away from Wow will increase your motivation for when the expansion does come out. Also taking a break will help you strengthen other areas of your life – which will be come in handy when you disappear the weeks and months after WoW Cataclysm does come out.
In the meantime, breath easy and take comfort in being with the best :-) If you have any questions, concerns or comments. Feel free to post on our forums.
Best,

Good Afternoon Crusaders!
1) Please make sure to check out the raiding information for our new Vent information. Our new vent is now implemented and the old vent should no longer be used.
2) If you are intrested in raiding with us... PLEASE read about our raiding guidlines and sign up to raid on the website forums. A direct link to out "Raiders Wanted" forum thread can be found by CLICKING HERE. You will NOT recieve invites to our raids unless you indicate your intrest on our forums.
3) Raiding specific questions should be directed to one of our Raid Leaders (Draxilla, Soliiaana, Vaniel and Tiburon)
4) Ease into the summer...... TURN UP SOME STP

He has been tormenting us for a few weeks, but COTL finally got Rotface down last night. Rotface is the second boss in the Plaugeworks section of ICC. We gave the third and final boss, Professor Putricide a couple attempts, but he handeled us quite readily. Great work and congratulations to our raiders as we continue to work through ICC together.

Crusaders,
This message is to inform you of some exciting and innovative changes to our guild's leadership team. Over the past month, guild officers have taken part in a discussion focused around restructuring our officer corps. Often, new members have had specific questions about our guild and have been unsure who to direct those questions to. It is our hope that this restructuring provides some clarity to the roles each officer plays and gives a more specific and streamlined set of resources for our members. Our new officer corps structure is as follows...
Guild Leader = Loudobbs
Responsible for overall management and oversight of COTL
Executive Officers = Anorelia & Huken
Assists Guild Leader with day-to-day operation of COTL. Serves as consultation point for officers/members on topics of guild info, general help questions and guild regulations. Manages guild in the absence of the Guild Leader.
Raid Leaders = Draxilla, Tiburon, Soliiaana, Vaniel
Group to meet weekly to discuss and schedule raids. These members do not always need to be in attendance, but must ensure at least one raid leader is present for all guild sponsored raids. This group sets guidelines and criteria for our raiding in consultation with Guild Leader.
Recruitment/Social Officers = Fricasse, Holyrain, Kamielle, Kippana
Handle all new member inquires and provides initial contact to new members. Directs new members to register on our website. Openly recruit, develop and roll out "fun" guild wide events (raffles, gnome races, retro raids, retro heroics, etc..). also serve as backup to any of the above when needed.
COTL Council = Bombour, Glorfendal, Hudman, Juand, Oxford, Twistakane, Smoopy
Non-officer members of the COTL leadership community.
Overwhelmingly, our officer corps sees this organizational change as a great step in preparation for the upcoming WoW expansion Cataclysm. This expansion will place a heavy premium on guilds that are orgainized and managed well. COTL strives to provide the best social gaming environment for our members and these changes solidify our commitment to our members. Over the next couple days, you may see a lot of changes happening in game with promotions/demotions. Do not fear, this is only me setting up all of this logistically in game.
A few other points to make..
1) In-game member rankings have been altered. To see our updated rankings and their requirements, please visit the "About COTL" section on the website here.
2) Upcoming changes are on the horizon concerning invitations to our raids. Stay tuned to our forums for additional information.
I want to send a big THANK YOU out to our officers for their hard work and support on this restructuring. If any of you have questions, please post them on our forums.

CoTL had a great night in ICC last night. We one-shotted the first three bosses and even downed some big frost guy who gave us five extra Emblem of Frost. Great work raiders! As we continue to learn fights and progress we will be doing our best to swap players in and out for the loot, experience and fun!

Hello All
Just a quick message to ask everyone to read up on the latest patch notes. Patch 3.3.3 hit today.
http://www.wow.com/2010/03/23/world-of-warcraft-patch-3-3-3-release-patch-notes/
Here are some of the highlights...
PvP- The amount of Honor awarded for an Honorable Kill has been increased by 100% for characters of all levels. Since all Honor is awarded based on a conversion rate from Honorable Kills, this change will effectively double the amount of Honor received from Honorable Kills, or for completing Battleground and Wintergrasp objectives; however, the amount of experience gained from completing Battleground objectives and the amount of Honor rewarded for completing each Wintergrasp quest remain unchanged.
Fishing- The "Monsterbelly Appetite" daily fishing quest has changed so it now takes place outside the Violet Hold in Dalaran. The quest still requires a Severed Arm and has been renamed to "Disarmed!"
- Mining
- Titansteel Bar: Creating this item no longer results in a cooldown. If this ability is on cooldown when the patch is applied, players must wait for the cooldown to expire naturally before it is permanently removed.
- Tailoring
- Glacial Bag: Creating this item now invokes a 7-day cooldown.
- The cooldown and location requirements have been removed from creating Moonshroud, Spellweave and Ebonweave. If any of these abilities are on cooldown when the patch is applied, players must wait for the cooldowns to expire naturally before they are permanently removed.
- The Deserter debuff given to players who leave a dungeon prematurely when queuing via the Random Dungeon option has been increased to 30 minutes, up from 15 minutes. The cooldown for using the Random Dungeon option remains 15 minutes.
- The Random Dungeon cooldown is no longer displayed as a debuff. Instead, players will see the cooldown time remaining displayed in the Dungeon Finder window when Random Dungeon or Random Heroic Dungeon is selected from the pull-down.
- If a player in your party has the Deserter debuff, or is on cooldown from the Random Dungeon option, his or her character name will be displayed in the Dungeon Finder window listed as "On Cooldown," preventing the group from queuing.
- Anyone in a dungeon party can now re-queue their group for a dungeon, as players will still be prompted whether or not to accept their chosen role.
- Players who use the Vote Kick option will now be prompted to provide a reason for kicking a party member. This reason will be presented to everyone in the party except for the person voted to be kicked.
- When joining as a group, more generous level requirements will be used instead of Random Dungeon level requirements so that players of different levels joining together will be eligible for a greater number of dungeons.
- Parties randomly created via the Dungeon Finder will always be arranged in the party interface from top to bottom in the following order: tank, healer, damage, damage, damage.
- If a random party is created via the Dungeon Finder and a player cannot roll Need on an item, a reason will now be provided.
- Players can no longer roll Need on Frozen Orbs in dungeons under Need Before Greed loot rules. Pass and Greed options will still be available.
Culling of Stratholme- Players may now skip the initial introduction dialog to this dungeon once they have completed it at least once. Yay!

Certainly, a post is not needed to let us know we are awesome. However, a post is required to congratulate our guild in a very sucsessful night in ToC10 last night. We downed 4 out of the five bosses in ONE SHOT! Sure we wiped a couple times on the last guy, but we were tired right? :-) The run will be extended into next week so we can finish him off and officially clear another 10 man raid within the game! Great work everybody!

To point out a "feather in our cap" CoTL recently downed the first boss within the Ice Crown Citadel 10 man raid. Congratulations to our raiders!

Crusaders of the Light
Three-Year Anniversary Shin-Dig
January 20, 2010 6:00pm server time
Dear Guildies,
It is difficult to fathom that three years ago, a group of online gamers formed this guild...... and we still exist today. Think about it..... in your own personal WoW lifetime, how many guilds have you seen come and go? We've conquered seemingly unbeatable odds to be alive and kicking today. Strike that, we are beyond alive and kicking. CoTL is thriving, growing and becoming stronger each and every day. I have been very fortunate to be a part of the Guild's leadership team for over a year. We've experienced some awesome things during my tenure as Guild Leader. We've conquered Naxxaramas, shed blood in Ulduar and have recently embarked on a journey into the Icecrown Citadel together. Most importantly though, this past year we have come together as a group of gamers and (dare I say it) friends. I have said it numerous times in the past, but I am able to write this message celebrating our three year anniversary, because of our guild members. We have the most supporting, helpful and generous guild members any Guild Leader could ever dream about.
It is important that we remember this dynamic is what makes us special, unique and resilient through difficult times. Pre-WOTLK, we lost some members since we were still battling away in Kara and not in Black Temple or the Sunwell. Still, we plugged away, doing things our way and we struck succsess by clearing Kara...... together..... on our terms. Now we are entering the pinnacle of WOTLK content, the Icecrown Citadel....... together.... on our terms. With this being said, I would like to invite all CoTL members, past and present to participate in our Three Year Anniversary celebration on Wednesday January 20th, at 6:00pm server time. Sign on and forget about heroics or raiding for a single night. Enjoy the interaction with your guildmates and celebrate everything that makes up CoTL. Hop on vent and say hello, shoot the breeze. Heck, I might just be giving out free gold now and then... ya never know! Also be prepared for the finale of the evening, a fun event that all guild members can enjoy, regardless of character level... the NAKED GNOME DEATH RACE at 8pm.
To conclude, I personally want to thank each and every one of you for allowing me the privilege of leading the guild for the past year or so. I also want to send a special thank you to the members of CoTL's officer team past and present for your enhanced support and contributions to the guild. You guys make my job easy (or as easy at it can be).
Thank you and Happy Gaming

Greetings all
I hope everyone is having a great start to their 2010! This months marks a very special date for our guild. On January 20th, CoTL turns three! Fittingly, it makes much more sense to host our family fun night on our anniversary. This means the "Naked Gnome Death Race" will be rescheduled AGAIN and for the FINAL time to January 20th. Other events and fun will be added to the mix so stay tuned for more info (i.e. more info to follow when I get out of work lol)
--DV -
Good Morning All,
Due to my own incompetence with scheduling, I will be pushing back the upcoming Family Fun Night "Naked Gnome Death Race 2009" to Sunday January 10, 2010. I have not been able to devote as much attention to the event and game for the past couple weeks and I would like to ensure that the proper preperation and publicity is done for the event. Pushing back this date will allow me to do so. This also means that the COTL Forums "Gold Raffle" will also be pushed back to match the event. Again, this will allow for more time to publize the raffle and encourage all guildies to sign up and register their toons on our website!
I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Huken & Draxilla to their promotions to Co-Guild Leaders. Both will have their roles confirmed and voted on during our next Officer's meeting. Our guild should feel very good knowing our leadership is in such caring and capable hands. Thank you both for stepping up and taking on this role within the guild.
Stay Classy,
--DV -
Good Morning COTL!
The latest patch was released this past Tuesday. This patch involves MANY changes to the game. Please take some time and read up on all of the changes at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/
One note in this patch was the release of two key componets to our guild and how we do things. First is the introduction of the new eblem system, introducing the new Frost Emblems and reconfiguring the drop of the Triumph emblems. The second major change for our guild is the introduction of the weekly heroic quest. While our raid leaders and officers discuss how best to handle the weekly raid quests, we will more than likely be taking a week off from raiding to allow our guildies to run heroics for the Triumph emblems. Tonight's Ulduar run, ironically, is also serving as the first weekly raid quest to obatain five of the Frost emblems. We will be putting together the lineup for tonights run as we would any other Ulduar run. If you do not make the lineup for tonights run, we may put together a second Ulduar guild run this weekend since so many of our members have alts geared for Ulduar. Details to follow soon.
Also, with this patch release date, there may be a chance the NAKED GNOME DEATH RACE is rescheduled for January. Stay tuned for a decision on that in the near future.
As we ask with any major infusion of content, please be patient with our GMs and officers as we work through all of this new content to lead the guild in the best direction possible for all of our members. If you have any comments or suggestions, please send me an in game message or whisper if I a online.
Happy Gaming

Greetings Guildies
Few points of interest...
First, CoTL will be taking Thanksgiving week off from guild sponosred raids and events (November 23-30). There is the possibility of one exception to this, which would be the completion of the classic 40 man raid "Temple of Ahn'Qiraj". Keep on eye on the calendar for this to be posted sometime in the future. During this week off, spend some extra time with yoru family.... unless you are a loser like me, then feel free to join yours truely in game.
Secondly, November 22nd marks the begining of the WoW holiday event "Pilgram's Bounty". For those of you intrested in the acheievements associated with this, please visit the following link for detailed information http://www.wowwiki.com/Pilgrim's_Bounty
Last, please take note of the confirmed date for our next Family Fun Night entitled "Naked Gnome Death Race 2009". This event will be held on Sunday December 13th. For more information visit http://cotlhydraxis.wowstead.com/custom/6
Till next time...

Good Morning All
With the recent switch to the battle.net accounts, I urge all guild members to please be cautious in account hacking. This morning we had an guildies account hacked which resulted in many items taken from our guild bank. To ensure yoru security, please make sure to change your battle.net password frequently, keeping it different than any other passwords you use online. I may temporarily alter GB access for our ranks until this battle.net converstion has blown over. Stay tuned!
